2 July 1920 Dover Express - Motor Builders Outing - The annual outing of employees of the Connaught Coach Works and Palmers Ltd, took place on Saturday last, when a party of seventy-three employees and friends journeyed to Hastings and Maidstone. A start was made from the firm's Institute at 7:45 a.m., and travelled by way of Folkestone and Hythe to Dymchurch, a stop was made for breakfast at the "Ship" Hotel. Rye was reached at 10:30, where the party visited the quaint and interesting spots, including the Church, especially enjoying the panoramic view from the tower. Arriving at Hastings at 12:30, the time until lunch was spent on the promenade, etc. Lunch was served on the "Wavely" Hotel, and full justice was done to the viands provided, as everyone's appetite had been whetted by the forty-five miles across the glorious Romney Marsh. Hastings was left at 3:30 the route taken being Sadlescombe, Bodiam, Hurst Green, Hawkeshurst, Staplehurst, to Maidstone, where a stop was made for tea. Leaving there at 8:30, the part returned home via Charing, Ashford and Folkestone. Arriving home at 11:30, it was universally agreed to be most enjoyable outing yet arranged.
17 December 1920 Dover Express - Dover Motor For The Duke Of York - The local firm of coachbuilders, the Connaught Coach Works and Palmers Ltd., have just completed a very fine car to the H.R.H. the Duke of York. The enclosed drive domed roof limousine body was fitted to a 1920 six cylinder Armstrong Siddley chassis, with polished aluminium bonnet and dash, replete with all modern improvements including adjustable seats, dictograph, frameless windows, etc. It is tastefully upholstered in fine grey striped cloth, and painted dark blue, combining comfort and utility with refinement.
