10 September 1926 (DE) - An application was received from Messers Bowhill and Company for permission to store 500 gallons of petrol at the Grand Shaft garage, the public being supplied through a swing arm over the pavement.
Councillor Boyton moved that the application be not granted as this was one of the narrowest parts of the pavement and it is very close to where the trams run.
Councillor Stevens said that cars filled up outside there already and they could not stop that.
There seems no seconder to Councillor Boyton's proposal and the application was granted subject to the Surveyor being satisfied as to the work done in connection with making the store.
Projections - A swing sign projecting over the restaurant at Clarence Place, for Mr Wayte, and the swing arm for the service of petrol at Messers, Bowhill's garage, as mentioned above, were granted.
